As the leading healthcare provider in our community,
Salem Memorial District Hospital
is obligated to share the risks of tobacco use
to employees, patients and visitors.
The health hazards are well recognized by the
U.S. Surgeon General, American Heart Association,
American Cancer Society
and others that the use of tobacco products on our premises
compromises our standards as a health-conscious healthcare provider.
SMDH joined other Missouri hospitals in becoming a tobacco-free facility
effective September 1, 2006.
